The NX Group up for four accolades at Logistics Awards

We have been shortlisted along with two of our staff as finalists in four award categories at the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards 2019.

Our company as a whole has been announced as one of two finalists in the Growth Company of the Year category and one of three finalists for SME of the Year (above 50 Employees). Richard Mallard, our Senior Operations Manager, is an Achiever of the Year finalist along with two other entrants, while our driver Lee Hemming has been shortlisted for the HGV Driver of the Year award as one of four finalists.

We have a proven track record of taking on board customer feedback and reviewing our services in response to customer requirements. Having seen a significant increase in enquires regarding Brexit stockpiling over the last six months, we have responded by providing additional warehouse spaces and customer advice. We have also begun to provide 24-hour turnaround and established our ecommerce solutions last year, all in response to customer requests.

Our Financial Director Russell Powell said: “Following a successful year in terms of customer growth and expansion of our services, being shortlisted as finalists for both Growth and SME Company of the Year is well-deserved recognition for our dedicated and hardworking staff.

“We are looking forward to continuing to improve our operations, expand our workforce and deliver the best service possible for our customers.” Richard Mallard joined us in 2015 and was promoted to Senior Operations Manager in October 2018. In addition to taking on a host of new duties and challenges in the course of his new position, Richard has voluntarily undergone a range of training which he has subsequently implemented within our company. Most recently he has achieved his Fleet Manager Compliance certificate and become a Safety Rep.

Richard Mallard said: “It’s exciting to be a finalist for the Achiever of the Year award, especially as awards ceremonies are new to me. It’s been a busy year as I’ve moved from the warehouse side of the firm to the dynamic environment of the Transport Office, where work is very fast-paced and requires me to think on my feet a great deal. I’m enjoying rising to the challenge of managing a new team and setting goals for improving efficiency across our operations.”

Lee Hemming has been a driver with us for nine years, in addition to which he is now a driver trainer and has implemented training across our logistics division. He has also recently been shortlisted for the LGV Driver of the Year award at the upcoming Talent in Logistics Awards, the winners of which will be announced in June.

Lee said: “It’s great to be an HGV Driver of the Year finalist, though I’m quite surprised as it was completely unexpected! I enjoy my job, even the early starts, and always do it to the best of my ability.

“Although I’ve been driving for many years, there are still uncertain parts of the job – going somewhere you’ve never been and wondering whether you’ll be able to turn around in such a wide vehicle requires a lot of planning ahead. As for heavy traffic and other stresses, my advice is to take it in your stride – you’ll get there when you get there!”

Now in their fourth year of running, the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards are organised by the Northamptonshire Logistics Forum and have already become a highly-anticipated regional event. The winners of this year’s 12 awards will be announced on Friday 17th May at the Park Inn by Radisson in Northampton.
