What have we been up to in 2022?

Here we take a look at some of the highlights for The NX Group over the last year.

Q1

The first part of the year saw a huge increase in the stock holding requirements of some key customers, impacted by the unprecedented costs of container shipping and the post covid stresses on far east manufacturing delays and uncertainties.

The clamour for more space was felt on a weekly basis – expanding walls would have been a fantastic invention at this point!

Lack of clarity about the post covid world, customer forecasts and required flexibility brought The NX Group to the fore and we worked hard to help all of customers through a difficult period.

Q2

In quarter two we supported Mental Health Week with a number of our colleagues undertaking the Everymind Champion Course.  The course was designed to equip employees with the tools to support themselves and their colleagues in the workplace and provide practical suggestions to improve mental health within the workplace.

This was followed up with our ‘Let’s Talk’ health and wellbeing initiative – wellbeing cups were given out and employees were encouraged to grab a biscuit and start a conversation with their colleagues!

Neil Powell our managing director and Nick Cowap, commercial manager, headed off to Dublin in May to meet with a number of prospective clients.

In June, we once again secured our Leicester City executive box.  Offering an enhanced matchday experience we have entertained a number of customers, suppliers and invited guests in our exclusive hospitality space.

June also saw the team celebrating the Queens Jubilee with a long bank holiday weekend.

Q3

During the third quarter of the year we expanded our fleet with three extra vehicles to meet increased customer demand.  Our dedicated fleet, with enhanced security measures, allows us to continue to provide our secure Closed Pallet Network service, specialising in timed deliveries throughout the UK.

July saw the company celebrate our one year anniversary in our new HQ base at Mustang Park, Daventry – ideally located in the heart of the Golden Triangle of logistics.

A summer with record breaking temperatures saw the team become extremely busy as sales of fans from our client Meaco rocketed.  On one day alone the team dispatched more than ten times more units than usual!

In September we celebrated our one year anniversary of working with Secretlab.  You can read about our work with the leading gaming company here.

Another additional bank holiday was given to our employees in September to allow colleagues to pay their respects during Her Majesty the Queen’s funeral.

Q4

The final part of the year saw our non-executive director, David Howorth, take on his 4th African Cycle Challenge across southern Malawi to raise money for transport charity Transaid.

November was another busy month as the team prepared for the Black Friday and Christmas rush. With many of our pallets being delivered to retailers on behalf of our various clients, the period leading up to the 25th of November significantly increased the workload across the entire team. However, keeping up to date with technology and security measures across our facilities and fleet means we’re well-prepared for the festive period and these spikes in activity.

We finished off the year with a Christmas party at the Staverton Park Hotel where everyone got the chance to let their hair down and enjoy some festive spirit(s)!

The Team in 2022

Throughout the year we have welcomed several new employees to the team.  Our ongoing commitment to the support and development of our employees’ careers has seen a number of the team taking on and completing various training and development courses. These include:

    • Andy Lonergan who completed his FLT Counterbalance training

    • Phil Ventress and Silvia Crecea who both completed their Level 3 Award in Frist Aid at Work

    • Monika Zawadzka and Grzegorz Zawadzki who both completed their Highfield Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading (RQF) training

    • Tom Cerek who completed both his Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship and Highfield Level 2 Mathematics and English

Congratulations to all of those who have undertaken training courses and well done for your hard work!

We are looking forward to what 2023 has in store, working with both our existing and new customers to deliver supply chain solutions that meets their needs.
